After installation, select the "Preferences" selection under "Options."

Under the sidebar item "General," ensure that "Update to beta versions" is not selected. The reasoning behind this is that automatically updating to beta versions may undo some of the security configurations described below.

Next, select the sidebar item "Connection." Do not use any UCLA proxy setting to connect to uTorrent.

Next, select "Bandwidth" from the sidebar. uTorrent forces you to maintain the ability to upload since it requires a value of at least one (zero being infinite) kB/s (kilobyte per second). The screenshot below this one reflects the same limitation, as (under the "Transfer Cap" sidebar item), you must allow a transfer restriction great than zero. Enter a value of "0" (zero) for "Number of upload slots per torrent:"

Next, select "BitTorrent" from the sidebar and disable the "Enable Peer Exchange" option by unchecking it.
